Keyboard


The keyboard is an input unit. It is used to enter data. The keyboard has numbers and letters. Without the keyboard you cannot enter your name, address or numbers into the computer. The computer needs the keyboard to take in data. The different types of keys on the keyboard are:

Number keys:


The number keys are used to type numbers. 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9. These are called as number keys

Alphabet keys:


The letters are used to type text. The letters from A to Z are called as alphabet keys

Space bar key:


The longest key on the keyboard is the space bar. It is used to give spaces between characters

Arrow keys:


There are four arrow keys on the keyboard. They are:
  • Up arrow
  • Down arrow
  • Right arrow
  • Left arrow

Usage of keys:


  • Number keys are used to type the numbers
  • Alphabet keys are used to type the letters
  • Space bar keys is used to leave a space
  • Arrow keys are used to move in different directions
